Dr. Rita Kandel is Chief of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital as well as a clinician-scientist and Associate Member of the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute. Dr. Kandel has practised anatomical pathology for more than 20 years and has expertise in molecular diagnostics as well as the pathology of the musculoskeletal system related to orthopaedics, sports medicine and soft tissue and bone tumours. Her research focuses on the identification of biomarkers associated with bone and soft tissue tumours, as well as the regeneration of  musculoskeletal tissue to replace human joints that are damaged by injury or disease.
